Insurance coverage is crucial for any party in the design, construction and real estate industries as the products from the insurance industry are used to reduce or ameliorate the results of many of the perils that occur in these industries. Insurance markets for these industries have fluctuated greatly over the decades, depending on national economic conditions, investment opportunities for the insurance industry, and results of prior underwriting decisions.
Over the past several years, insurance coverage for EIFS applicators and project owners has not been widely available, and its availability could even be referred to as scarce. This fact applies to homeowners as well. Improvement of the availability of insurance coverages for EIFS, however, continues, albeit slowly. EIFS insurance coverage is and has been difficult to obtain for many reasons, including the infrequency of requests for it, lack of knowledge of sources for it, and some past experiences. To some degree, the availability depends on the jurisdiction in which coverage is sought.
EIMA continues to receive many inquiries a week as to whether a particular coverage for EIFS is available. Although EIMA can direct these inquiries to potential sources, there is no certainty whether the coverage is available to and affordable by the entity making the inquiry. A central source for information about the availability of coverage for EIFS was non-existent, until now.
Those with additional information about the availability of insurance coverage for EIFS are encouraged to contact the EIMA national office at eifsinfo@eima.com.
Since information contained in the matrix is obtained from sources that EIMA regards as reliable, EIMA makes no warranty that this information is wholly accurate.
