EIMA Seeks New Executive Director

The EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA), incorporated in D.C., is seeking resumes from qualified candidates for its next Executive Director/CEO to replace the one who is retiring. EIMA is a national trade association representing companies involved in the manufacture, distribution, design, and application of exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), which are an exterior wall cladding. EIMA’s mission is to work in partnership with its members to advance the EIFS Industry through developing consensus technical, training, installation, and design standards for use by architects, designers, code bodies and officials, and other technical associations.

The primary funding members are the five manufacturers along with the Associate members. The annual budget is approximately $1 million. EIMA headquarters are in Falls Church, Virginia, sharing office space with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry.

The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the mission and objectives of EIMA in accordance with policies and procedures established by the EIMA Board of Directors and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director serves as the industry spokesperson, and works with industry members and technical consultants to carry out the mission. EIMA has 3 staff members, a contract General Counsel and a contract accountant.

The minimum academic requirement for the fully qualified candidate is a college degree. Significant work experience (7 to 10 years) in association management or in the corporate setting at the senior level is a necessity. Technical and/or public relations experience in the not-for-profit area are advantages. Some familiarity with construction education is a plus as is the CAE credential. The EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is seeking resumes from qualified candidates for its next Executive Director/CEO to replace the one who is retiring. EIMA is a national trade association representing companies involved in the manufacture, distribution, design, and application of exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), which are an exterior wall cladding. EIMA’s mission is to work in partnership with its members to the advancing the EIFS Industry through:

  • developing consensus technical, training, installation, and design standards for use by architects, designers, code bodies and officials, and other technical associations;
  • monitoring and positively influencing government actions; and
  • working to assure the long-term availability of qualified contractors, and by providing other member services as appropriate.

EIMA’s membership categories are architect, applicator/contractor, affiliate, distributor, associate, and manufacturer. Requirements

Government Relations: The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience in working with governmental/regulatory, legislative and coalition entities.

Codes and Standards: The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience in working with building codes at the national and local levels. EIMA is an ANSI-accredited standards development organization and knowledge and experience in developing standards is a plus as well as having knowledge of the ASTM standard development process.

Management and Association Experience/Skills: The successful candidate will have the ability to manage and provide outstanding support to a non-profit board and to work at the direction of the association’s board of directors. The successful candidate should be experienced in managing volunteer committees to achieve the mission of EIMA, be able to develop and market EIMA’s programs and services, and manage EIMA’s budgeting process and financial performance. The ability to become technically knowledgeable and capable to publicly present the attributes and benefits of exterior insulation and finish systems is a requirement.

The candidate should also be someone who listens to and respects the opinions of others, has the ability to motivate volunteer members, has the ability to develop programs and services, and who is a consensus builder with an entrepreneurial spirit. The candidate shall have a high level of self-sufficiency and work well in an integrated team environment. Frequent domestic travel is necessary as is the ability to work remotely.

Founded in 1981, the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is a national non-profit technical trade association comprised of over 700 members who are the leading suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, architects, related products manufacturers and suppliers, and other interested parties involved in the exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS) industry.
