Fairfax City Net Zero House
Fairfax City, Virginia | Residential
Project Specifications:
EIFS was an ideal choice for this residential project due to its adaptability to Passive House construction: providing an all-in-one approach to the building envelope, and single point responsibility for all air sealing, insulation and exterior finishes. The owner's desired massive look of the exterior walls, with crisp, deep recesses at windows was easily achieved with EIFS. Additionally, the design flexibility of EIFS, including color and texture choices, and the ability to create the deep horizontal bands and sharp, clean panel divisions, was advantageous. From a building code standpoint, EIFS was the cleanest approach, and from a cost perspective, choosing EIFS was a no-brainer. This unique and contemporary home demonstrates the power of designing with EIFS.
