Boston Hill Center
Marion, IN | Renovation
Built in the late 1800s, the Boston Hill Center, a two-story retail space, was in dire need of restoration. The exterior brick façade was crumbling and allowing moisture infiltration. The owners wanted to restore weathertightness and energy performance while balancing a new aesthetic and the historical integrity of the structure.
The design and construction team worked together to design and implement a custom EIFS cladding solution. A dark gray acrylic finish was used for the bulk of the façade, with an EIFS brick finish added to vertical columns to mimic the brick that was on the existing building. Crumbling tiles at the bottom of the structure were replaced with an EIFS brick finish in a custom 8’ by 16” size that replicates the look of limestone. Now the Boston Hill Center stands out as a modern shopping area while still showcasing its historic roots.
