Towerview at Ballantyne
Charlotte, NC | High-rise
Project Specifications:
Towerview at Ballantyne, a high-rise apartment community is a visionary, 18-story project that majestically stands in the heart of the Ballantyne area of Charlotte, NC. The site, which sits in the middle of a commercial park and is constructed on the former Ballantyne Golf Course, is one of the tallest structures in the area.
Towerview called for multiple claddings which included EIFS and stone veneer. Continuous Insulation was required, and a concern was the potential breach of the insulation and the air/water control layer. In addition to the highly absorptive stone veneer, using mechanical fasteners or Z-girts to attach the stone could leave voids which could allow for water intrusion. The owner recognized this as a concern so Max Grip was used to adhere the stone veneer. The IMVS system allowed for the desired masonry veneer aesthetic without compromising the continuous exterior insulation or penetrating the air and water-resistive barrier. The challenges of multi-cladding construction were able to be met at a cost that facilitated project success.
