For More Information: EIMA Names 2015 Mike Sweeney Press Award RecipientFalls Church, Va., May 4, 2015 — The EIFS Industry Members Association, during the General Session of its 2015 Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California, named Steven Pedracine and his article Why EIFS Are Number One, the Mike Sweeney Press Award winner. The Mike Sweeney Press Award was created in memory of the late Media Manager of Sto Corp, and to recognize an article from any publication, either on-line or in-print, that showed the benefits of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) on a variety of levels. Several articles were submitted that met the criteria, ranging from success stories in zoning cases to energy efficiency upgrades thanks to EIFS. The award’s criteria was expanded this year, to include articles from all media sources, not just from daily publications. The article is a follow up to an original that Pedracine authored in 2008, that he claims several years later was simply incomplete. This updated list showcases the topics of sustainability, lower environmental impacts, continuous insulation, impact resistance, and even a comparison with another cladding option. Steven Pedracine CSI, CDT, CEI is the executive director of the Minnesota Lath & Plaster Bureau, located in St. Paul, Minnesota. His article was published in the February edition of Walls and Ceilings Magazine.
