The EIFS Advantage

The EIFS Advantage is a series of documents which show the key issues to focus on when speaking to decision makers about the value of EIFS. The documents also exemplify the value EIMA provides to the EIFS industry in terms of public-facing materials and messaging when it comes to regulation and potential bans.

Issue 1 - Affordability and Cost Savings
EIFS with Drainage are one of the most efficient materials for building construction and retrofitting, reducing construction and energy costs for tenants and owners. Since EIFS with Drainage are high-performing lightweight cladding systems, they are cheaper to transport and less cumbersome to install than heavier, traditional claddings – leading to substantial savings.

Issue 2 - Environment and Climate Change
As a leading source of emissions across the country, building performance is crucial to achieve emission reduction goals for both new construction and to retrofit existing buildings.  Key tools for developers, contractors, architects, and building professionals are the wide variety of materials available for conducting a building retrofit, particularly on the exterior of the building. One key input of production utilized by contractors across nearly every jurisdiction in the world are EIFS with Drainage.

Issue 3 - Aesthetic Flexibility
The versatile design options offered by EIFS with Drainage enable architects and builders to create energy-efficient structures without compromising aesthetics, which can encourage greater adoption of sustainable construction practices. They provide superior energy efficiency and offer much greater design flexibility than other cladding products.

Issue 4 - Durability
EIFS with Drainage are designed to be durable and long-lasting, which translates to low maintenance. Most EIFS with Drainage systems are specially formulated with a 100% acrylic binder, which gives finishes superior resistance to fading, chalking, and yellowing. As a result, the systems tend to maintain their original appearance over time.
